iPhone wallpaper sizes, model by model

Find your iPhone in the chart and export your wallpaper at the size in its Native pixels column. The chart lists 20 models, from the iPhone 14 to the iPhone 18 Pro Max, with points, aspect ratio, release date and the day each row was verified. Every row links to the wallpaper maker and the local photo checker, both set to that model. The section after the chart explains what perspective zoom does to your edges and how to keep iOS from rescaling your wallpaper.

Parallax, perspective zoom, and why exact size matters

If an image doesn't match the screen's pixel dimensions, iOS scales and crops it to fill the screen. Even a perfectly sized image gets enlarged a few percent when perspective zoom is on, so the wallpaper can drift against the icons as the phone tilts. That parallax motion is the usual reason a carefully composed wallpaper loses its edges.

To keep the edges where you put them, start from an image at your model's exact native pixels (the second column above) and turn off perspective zoom while you set the wallpaper. With zoom on or off, an exact-size image loses less than an oversized one, because every crop iOS makes is a crop you didn't choose.

Several models share a resolution: the readout counts 7 distinct resolutions across 20 models. A wallpaper made for one iPhone often fits another model pixel for pixel, and the aspect column shows which models share a shape.

How this chart is made

A build tool generates this chart from the device table that also drives the wallpaper maker's device picker. The rows, the readout and every pixel value in this page's text come from that table, so the chart and the maker's export sizes use the same numbers. When the table changes, the page is regenerated, and a stale chart fails the site's build before it can ship.

A row's check date changes only when that row is checked again. The table changes only in site releases, with no live feed, so each change can be traced to a specific update.

The Released column gives the month each model was announced, and sales in your region may have started later. A size chart covers only the file you make: once the wallpaper is on the phone, settings like perspective zoom decide how it moves, as the section above explains.

Frequently asked questions

What size should an iPhone wallpaper be?
Use your model's native panel pixels, in portrait, from the second column. An iPhone 17 Pro Max is 1320×2868 and an iPhone 14 is 1170×2532. A wallpaper at exactly those dimensions gives iOS no reason to rescale it. Each row's maker link opens the generator set to that model, and the checker link beside it opens a local photo test with the same model selected.
What is the difference between pixels and points?
Pixels are the physical dots in the panel. Points are the logical units iOS uses to lay out apps. Every iPhone in this chart uses a 3x display scale, so native pixels are exactly three times the point dimensions: the iPhone 17 Pro Max is 440×956 points and 1320×2868 pixels. Export wallpapers at the pixel size. The points column is there because developer documentation and screenshots are usually quoted in points.
Why does iOS zoom or crop my wallpaper?
Two things cause it, and both are normal iOS behavior. Perspective zoom scales the image up slightly so it can shift as you tilt the phone (the parallax effect), and that crops the edges. You can turn it off when you set the wallpaper. iOS also crops or scales any image that doesn't match the screen's aspect ratio until it fills the screen. Export at exact native pixels and switch perspective zoom off, and every edge stays where you put it.
My iPhone isn't in this chart. What size do I use?
This chart begins with the iPhone 14 family. For an older model, or any other model not listed here, look up the native resolution in its tech specs and enter it in the maker's custom size option (240–4096 px per side). Render quality is the same, because every wallpaper is computed at whatever pixels you ask for.
Where do these numbers come from?
From a device table in the site's code, which this chart and the maker's device picker both read. Every entry was cross-checked against two independent published sources: the maker's specification pages and an independent specification database. The rows were checked on different days, and the Verified column shows the day for each one.
