About Depth Paper

Depth Paper makes gradient wallpapers at the native resolution listed for your device, with a custom size option in the maker. Choose a device or size, a palette, and a seed; your browser renders the gradient as a PNG. Your phone can still crop or zoom the image according to its wallpaper settings.

What the site is built on

Your browser does the work. The site is a set of static files. Rendering, previews, and PNG exports run inside your tab, with no server-side rendering. There are no accounts, and the tools do not upload what you make.

Recipes, not stored images. Each entry in the gallery is a recipe rendered by the same engine as the maker. A single wallpaper's recipe includes its seed, palette, point-count setting, and output size; custom palettes also need their color values. Matching pairs also use a mode and a size for each image. The same recipe can be rendered again with the same engine, but PNG files can have different bytes across browsers because their encoders differ. Keep the downloaded file if you need an identical copy.

A shared device table. The resolutions in the size charts and the maker's device picker come from the same table. Each entry was cross-checked against two independent published sources before it shipped, and the charts show each row's check date. New models join the table once their resolutions can be verified the same way.

First-party code. The site ships no third-party code: no frameworks, libraries, external scripts, font files, or trackers.

What this site is not

Not an AI generator. The gradients come from seeded calculations that place and blend colored control points, with a small amount of seeded grain. There is no image model or prompt.

Not a copy of anyone's artwork. Nothing here reproduces, traces, or recreates any phone maker's built-in wallpapers, and the site hosts none of them. Generated wallpapers come from the site's own engine, using its original built-in palettes or custom colors passed from the tint matcher.

Not affiliated with any phone maker. Depth Paper is an independent site. It has no affiliation, sponsorship, or connection with Apple, Google, Samsung, or any other device maker, and none of them have reviewed or approved anything here. Names like iPhone, iOS, Pixel, and Galaxy are used only as factual references to devices and software.

The photo tools

Two pages accept a photo: the depth-effect checker and the icon tint matcher. They read and analyze the selected file locally in your browser and never upload it or send us a copy. The checker measures image size and clock-band contrast, with guide bands to help you judge placement. The tint matcher extracts colors. Depth layering is decided by your phone's software, not by the checker.

Who runs it

The site is built and run by an independent developer. It shows no advertising and sets no ad cookies. The two photo pages have no ad slots at all, because a third-party ad script on either page could read the photo you load, which the page draws on a canvas.
